  • Way to go, Drake! On Saturday, October 17, over 300 7th and 8th grade band students from 43 Northwest Iowa schools auditioned for a position in two honor bands.  Approximately 190 students were chosen.  These selected students will perform a concert at Buena Vista University Schaller Chapel, Saturday, November 7.  Selected from Remsen-Union is 8th grader Drake Oswald, tenor sax.  Drake was selected as first chair which also enables him to participate in the All-Iowa 8th Grade Honor Band. This event will take place in Des Moines in May.  His band director is Craig Anderson.  Guest conductors for the honor band festival will be Dr. Paul Bloomquist, Director of Bands at Iowa Central Community College, Fort Dodge, Iowa and  Mr. Josh Calkin ...
